DIRT!

It's day 18 on the ranch. Days 16 and 17 shall remain missing in a mushy fog of rain, head wounds, stitches, crazy toddler meltdowns, and a ranch hand who decided my bathtub was the perfect place to simulate a whirlpool, effectively turning the entire master bedroom into beachfront property. Don't worry, everyone is fine. Or mostly fine.

The cows are a muddy mess after two days of rain so we took a big, bold step and opened up the barnyard door. We have been grazing them on their leads a couple times a day and returning them to the barn so moving freely from containment to open space is something new.

The Zebu were a little apprehensive at first, but soon were out and about, lounging in the morning sun and grazing freely. And when the afternoon sun was high overhead, the old adage about loving something and setting it free was realized in a strange, livestocky kind of way. Jacob, Leah, and Rachel returned to the barn all on their own. The cows have come home

Day 19 at Ranch Kildare. We discovered that the previously overgrown garden actually has dirt! Sasha learned how to use a tiller and she generously let others in on the fun too.

Meanwhile, Genevieve has Jacob wrapped around her little finger. She is able to approach him and lead him around the pasture, and also in and out of the barn. And where Jacob goes, the heifers follow.
